Shirish Chhal – Desi Jadi Buti is a native tree of Indomalaya, New Guinea and Northern Australia which is widely naturalized or cultivated in other tropical and sub-tropical regions. The tree grows very big and can be easily spotted on the road sides in Southern India. It is one of the important anti-poisoning herb used in treating snake bite poisoning. Shirish is light to digest, dry, piercing, bitter, astringent, sweet, pungent and has slightly hot potency. Bark, seeds, leaves and flowers of Shirish are used for medicinal purposes. It is known to balance vata and Pitta disorders.
