Mica is a group of silicate mineral. it is very light and soft mineral and the sheets and flakes of mica are flexible. it is also used for Puja, Yajna other spiritual and religious activities. The Mica Stone is used in Ayurvedic medicine. Mica is used in in Ayurveda (Ancient medicine prevalent in India). It is used in preparation of various medicines for treatment of respiratory and digestion related diseases.
Four varieties of Mica or talc are described by Sanskrit writers, namely, white, red, yellow and black. Mica is one of the minerals that are used widely for the production of Ayurvedic medicines. and the black variety called Vajrabhra is used in medicine. It is of a black colour, hard and heavy, and generally known by the name of Krishnabhra or Sheabhra. Biotite Mica has been used for the production of medicine for a long time now. Biotite Mica In India is of very superior quality and it is the reason for its extensive usage in the oldest medical system. Mica is known as Abhrak in Sanskrit.
Prepared mica is a powder of brick-dust colour and a saline, earthy taste. Chemically it consists of silicate of magnesia with iron in excess. It is considered tonic and aphrodisiac and is used in combination with iron in anaemia, jaundice, chronic diarrhoea and dysentery, chronic fever, enlarged spleen, urinary diseases, impotence, etc. Its efficacy is said to be increased by combination with iron.
